Chaga – learn about its properties
Chaga – What is this mushroom and how does it affect health?
Chaga, or Chaga mushroom (Inonotus obliquus), is a unique mushroom that has gained popularity in traditional folk medicine, especially in Siberia. Considered "God's Gift", Chaga is used to create infusions that can support the proper functioning of the body. The latest research shows that regular consumption of Chaga has a beneficial effect on the digestive system [1] and the liver [2] .
What makes Chaga special? – the most important properties
Chaga mushroom is extremely rich in active substances, including betulinic acid, which plays an important role in maintaining the health of the gastric mucosa. This compound also has antiviral, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory effects [4] . In addition, Chaga is considered an adaptogen, which means that it helps regulate the body's response to stress and supports the immune system [1] . This mushroom also contains polysaccharides, especially beta-glucans, which support the body's immune functions [5] .
Chaga – a natural source of antioxidants
One of the most important advantages of Chaga is its high antioxidant content [6] . Among mushrooms, Chaga stands out as one of the richest sources of these valuable compounds. Antioxidants help protect the body against the harmful effects of free radicals, which can lead to cell damage and the development of diseases. In addition, antioxidants support cell repair processes, which may contribute to improved overall health.
The use of Chaga – how does it help?
Chaga has a wide range of potential benefits. Its regular use can have a positive effect on the digestive system and support the functioning of the liver. Additionally, thanks to the content of beta-glucans, Chaga supports the body's natural immunity. The antioxidants contained in Chaga also aim to protect cells against the harmful effects of free radicals.
Chaga – potential side effects and precautions
Although Chaga is generally safe to consume, it is a good idea to consult your doctor or therapist before using it, especially if you are taking other medications or have a chronic health condition. Although side effects are rare, stomach discomfort may occur, especially when first starting to use the mushroom. In this case, it is recommended to consume Chaga with meals or reduce the dose.
