It is a common cannabinoid found in essentially all varieties of cannabis plants. What do we know about this cannabinoid and its effects?
What is CBG?
Like all primary cannabinoids, CBG is produced in the cannabis plant as CBGA.
This is how CBGA gained the nickname "the mother of all cannabinoids". Like CBD , CBG is called a non-psychoactive substance, but as with CBD, the situation is probably slightly different.
The limited scientific knowledge we currently have suggests, among other things, that CBG is active at the level of many different receptors than other studied cannabinoids . Early research shows that CBG may have therapeutic potential in treating and alleviating many conditions and problems.
CBG action
CBG, like most cannabinoids, is an effective painkiller and anti-inflammatory agent. It may act as a neuroprotective agent against degeneration in diseases such as Huntington's disease, and has also been shown to promote neurogenesis, i.e. the regrowth of new brain cells. Other CBG activities also include:
- help in the fight against colon, prostate and oral cancer
- help in reducing intraocular pressure in glaucoma
- antibacterial effect in the case of resistant bacterial strains, such as MRSA
- help in the treatment of psoriasis
- help in regulating emotions, relieving anxiety and depression
